15 January
- Celebrating 20 years of Jazz Fremantle -

The Lazy River Jazz Band led by singer/
guitarist Vince Holmes has been entertaining
Perth audiences for over three decades with its fine
interpretations of New Orleans and Chicago style jazz.
Lloyd Napier on cornet and John Healey on bass
have been constant stalwarts in the band with other
frequent performers including Bill McAllister on
trombone, Barry Bruce piano, Barry Cox drums
and Lew Smith reeds.

Russell Holmes, Vince’s Son, leads a modern
trio which includes Karl Florissen bass and
Mike Perkins drums. Russell has built an enviable
reputation over the last decade with recordings and
personal appearances by the trio. We are pleased to
present both groups in our opening concert.

22 January
This marks the return of our patron
Libby Hammer and her frequent musical partner
guitarist/vocalist Kim Anning. Their combination of
talents always surprises with their subtle arrangements
and diversity of material. They will be well supported
by Phil Hatton on reeds, Nick Abbey bass and
Toby Anning drums.

29 January
We welcome a newcomer to Jazz Freo
with the formidable talent of Laura Bernay (click here). Laura’s
eclectic skills as a jazz cabaret artist of the top rank are
abetted by her ability as a pianist, flautist and revered
teacher. We are fortunate to have the masterly Mike
Nelson quartet in support. Along with the premier
pianist there will be Paul Millard on reeds, Murray
Wilkins bass and Peter Evans on drums
